The west end boat club was founded in 1898 and it has a great club house. Recently expanded and enlarged, they have a full time restaurant overlooking the Delaware River and it looks to be a great place to take that lady to dinner, pulling in with your yacht, overlooking the Commodore Barry Bridge just south of the Philadelphia Airport. The times are not really established yet, so I would call before going and find if there are slips available and the hours. If necessary, it is just off of I-95 and about where the Blue Route comes in below the airport. You can get some great food, watch boats and planes go up and down the river. I believe that DRYL members can stay reasonably at their dock (slips), if available, or anchoring out of the channel but in good water behind Tinicum Island is a good spot to stay (unless the wind is coming from the South). There are several yacht clubs and marinas in Essington and a few places to eat that are within walking distance. A nice place to visit when touring the Delaware River or waiting for tide on the C & D Canal.
